CCVI Announces Kerry Boehm as Executive Director

On behalf of the CCVI Board of Directors, I’m pleased to announce Kerry Boehm has been hired as Executive Director. Kerry steps into this role at an exciting time for CCVI as we reflect on the past 70 years and look toward the future. Joined by a team of established leaders, staff members recognized as experts in their field, and newer faces who bring a wealth of talent and expertise, we are confident CCVI will thrive under her direction.

Kerry joined CCVI as Chief Operating Officer in 2021 overseeing programming, administrative responsibilities, and general operations. Later that year the Board appointed her Interim Executive Director to guide the organization through a critical period of transition. During that time Kerry was instrumental in providing strategic leadership and direction as CCVI continued to deliver on its mission. As the Board began its search for a permanent Executive Director by first identifying the attributes and experience needed to advance the agency’s mission, it was clear Kerry’s leadership expertise, vision, and ability to foster meaningful relationships and a thriving culture were in alignment. A formal and extensive evaluation followed, ultimately leading to this decision.

Prior to joining CCVI, Kerry spent over three decades in early education, most recently serving as the principal of Great Beginnings Early Education Center in the Lee’s Summit School District. While Kerry has worked as an early childhood administrator since 2005, her roots are in the classroom as a special education first grade teacher. Kerry’s passion for early learning led to many partnerships in the community and beyond. Under her leadership, CCVI is well-positioned to achieve new levels of growth as the organization focuses on identifying opportunities to expand its services and reach within the Visually Impaired Community.

In times of transition and growth our mission remains the same: To prepare children with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities, to reach their highest potential in the sighted world. We would like to extend our gratitude to our community of supporters, partners, and donors for helping to make this possible. Kerry looks forward to engaging with and deepening these relationships as CCVI continues to flourish and expand its impact: “I’m honored to be entrusted to guide this special organization. CCVI has an incredibly dedicated and talented team that has touched so many lives over the years. It’s a privilege to join them in continuing this important mission.”

Please join us in congratulating Kerry and look forward to hearing more from her soon.

Warm regards,

Courtney Moilanen
